Peter Conroy
founder & CEO
Peter is the Founder and CEO of The Difference. He is a Mathematician by academic and professional experience. His expertise is in quantitative bond market analysis, beginning his corporate career with Salomon Brothers on Wall Street and culminating in the position of Director, Head of European Credit Strategy, for Deutsche Bank in London. After this, he established his own financial services company, Conroy Services, and continues to do private wealth management. After leaving the corporate sphere, Peter became an entrepreneur, founding businesses in finance, video streaming, food service, and landscape design. With over a decade of experience in health advocacy and awareness, he is now focused on creating The Difference, a weight management technology that is designed to be predictive, intuitive, and affordable. He is devoted to a variety of volunteer and charitable efforts. Peter holds certifications in Horticulture from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Peter is married with two children and currently resides in New Rochelle, NY.
Kelvin Sparks
CO-founder & CTO
Kelvin is a New York–based technologist with deep experience building data-driven applications across consumer platforms, portfolio and asset managers. He holds a B.A. in Applied Mathematics and Biology from Brown University and is completing an M.S. in Data Science at Eastern University with a focus on machine learning. Currently serving as CTO at The Difference, he leads a full-stack development team, introducing agile practices and improving CI/CD processes along with product development. Kelvin also teaches data analytics, SQL, MS Power Bi, Tableau, Python, and machine learning at institutions including CUNY City Tech, Pivot Technology School, SAM Career Center, and SEO-USA. His technical toolkit spans Python, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, and quantitative development.
Abel Legesse
LEAD DEVELOPER
Abel is the Lead Developer at The Difference. He is a Computer Science and Mathematics double major at Amherst College. Abel is from Ethiopia, and in his free time, he loves to play the game of chess, or go to the gym.
Tina Zhang
DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
Tina is the Director of Creative and Marketing at The Difference. She is a Computer Science and Law, Jurisprudence, & Social Thought double major at Amherst College. She is from the DMV area, and in her free time she likes to paint, dance, or play piano.
Tim Graver
DATABASE MANAGER
Tim is the Database Manager at The Difference. Classically trained in database administration, Tim has been programming databases for over 30 years. In his spare time, you’ll find him tinkering in the shop on his latest invention.
